The commemoration of Saint Paphnutius, bishop in Egypt, a confessor of the faith, who, under the emperor Galerius Maximinus, was condemned to the mines with his left eye plucked out and his right knee cut away, and later, as a participant in the Council of Nicea, fought vigorously against the Arians for the sake of Catholic faith.
