  • Where Eagles Dare -- A spy-counter-spy melodrama set in the Bavarian Alps during World War II pits(R) ichard Burton, Clint Eastwood and Mary Ure against what must be half the(G) erman army ensconced in a castle literally inaccessible except by cable car. Brian Hutton directs the Alistair MacLean script which consists of an interminable, totally implausible series of killings, escapes and pyrotechnic displays.(A-III) (PG) ( 1969 )

    The classifications are as follows:

    A-I -- general patronage;
    A-II -- adults and adolescents;
    A-III -- adults;
    L -- limited adult audience, films whose problematic content many adults would find troubling. L replaces the previous classification, A-IV.
    O -- morally offensive.

    Note: Some movies previously were designated A-IV. Older films with this classification should be regarded as classified L.
