  • Touch -- Botched satire from Elmore Leonard's novel about a Catholic stigmatic (Skeet Ulrich) whose healing powers attract the attention of a one-time bogus faith healer (Christopher Walken) but his plans to exploit those powers for profit go awry when the miracle worker falls in love with the con man's confederate (Bridget Fonda). Scripted and directed by Paul Schrader, the heavy-handed narrative drifts along, aimlessly following the eccentric types who make up the tiresome plot, but even worse is the movie's negative attitude to institutional religion. Due to jaundiced views of religion, sexual situations, rear nudity, coarse language and occasional profanity. (O) (R) ( 1997 )

    These movies have been evaluated for artistic merit and moral suitability by the media reviewing division of Catholic News Service. The reviews include the CNS rating, the Motion Picture Association of America rating, and a brief synopsis of the movie.

    A-I -- general patronage;
    A-II -- adults and adolescents;
    A-III -- adults;
