  • Torrent -- Creaky silent melodrama from the Blasco Ibanez novel about star-crossed lovers in Spain as a wealthy mama's boy (Ricardo Cortez) comes to regret breaking his vows of love to a poor country girl (Greta Garbo) after she goes to Paris and becomes a famous opera star. Directed by Monta Bell, the picture's highlight is a torrential flood but it's not enough to save this soggy tale of unrequited love between a weak hero and a strong heroine. Romantic complications. (A-II) (br) ( 1926 )
