Topkapi -- Entertaining adaptation of Eric Ambler's comic thriller in which a bungling two-bit con man (Peter Ustinov) becomes part of a fantastic plot to steal a priceless jeweled dagger from the Istanbul Museum. Directed with gusto by Jules Dassin, the suspenseful caper is pulled off in sparkling style by a cast including Melina Mercouri, Maximillian Schell and Robert Morley, but they are all upstaged by a little bird. Some stylized violence and mild sexual innuendo. (A-III) (br) ( 1964 )
