  • Tomcats -- Crass comedy about a cartoonist (Jerry O'Connell) whose only way to clear hefty gambling debts is to win a pooled bet by being the last of his buddies to get hitched, but first he must quickly marry off his philandering friend and sole competition (Jake Busey). Barely worth the celluloid it's printed on, director Gregory Poirer's derivative film has a strained premise and calculated, repulsive gross-out humor. Many sexual situations and crude sexual references, fleeting nudity, some homosexual innuendo, brief violence and sporadic rough language with some profanity. The U.S. Catholic Conference classification is (O) -- morally offensive. ( R -- restricted. 2001 (Columbia)

    These movies have been evaluated for artistic merit and moral suitability by the media reviewing division of Catholic News Service. The reviews include the CNS rating, the Motion Picture Association of America rating, and a brief synopsis of the movie.

    The classifications are as follows:

    A-I -- general patronage;
    A-II -- adults and adolescents;
    A-III -- adults;
    L -- limited adult audience, films whose problematic content many adults would find troubling. L replaces the previous classification, A-IV.
