  • Spook Who Sat by the Door, The -- Black exploitation movie about a token black CIA agent (Lawrence Cook) who returns to his Chicago home where he raises and trains a street army intended first to turn the ghetto into a riot zone and then to take over the city, the state, the nation, the world! Directed by Ivan Dixon, it starts as wry comedy but turns vicious halfway through when it begins taking its message of violent revolution seriously. Dreary abundance of racial cliches and stereotypes. (A-III) (PG) ( 1973 )
