Music Teacher, The -- Turn-of-the-century story about an opera star (Jose Van Dam) who retires at the peak of his career to become the singing teacher of two unlikely young students (Anne Roussel and Philippe Volter). Belgian director Gerard Corbiau fashions the movie around opera singer Van Dam and the result will entrance opera buffs with its wall-to-wall music but may distance others with its passionless, ambiguous character study.
