  • Listen Up: The Lives of Quincy Jones -- Portrait of the composer-producer's musical development and career achievements plus details of his personal life, including a harsh ghetto background and failed marriages. The colorful, kaleidoscopic "rockumentary" from director Ellen Weissbrod is done via interviews with Jones, his daughter and famed musical collaborators in a somewhat lengthy and reverential study of what makes Quincy Jones tick, tempered by his refreshingly honest self-appraisal. Minimal rough language and racial epithets. (A-II) (PG-13) ( 1990 )
