  • Listen to Me -- Campus hijinks at a posh California college focus on the school debating team which at the end of the year vies for a national championship led by two freshman (Kirk Cameron and Jami Gertz) arguing in the affirmative that abortion is wrong. Written and directed by Douglas Day Stewart, the movie laboriously delays the inevitable romance between its two principals and plays both sides of the street on the abortion issue, though it ends affirming the pro-life view. Several suggestive sex scenes, sophomoric sex jokes and a bit of rough language but seen from a perspective critical of contemporary moral permissiveness. (A-III) (PG-13) ( 1989 )

    These movies have been evaluated for artistic merit and moral suitability by the media reviewing division of Catholic News Service. The reviews include the CNS rating, the Motion Picture Association of America rating, and a brief synopsis of the movie.

    The classifications are as follows:

    A-I -- general patronage;
    A-II -- adults and adolescents;
    A-III -- adults;
    L -- limited adult audience, films whose problematic content many adults would find troubling. L replaces the previous classification, A-IV.
    O -- morally offensive.

    Note: Some movies previously were designated A-IV. Older films with this classification should be regarded as classified L.
