  • Lili -- Romantic fantasy in which a 16-year-old orphan (Leslie Caron) is entranced by a carnival magician (Jean-Pierre Aumont), then becomes part of the act in a puppet show whose embittered owner (Mel Ferrer) finally realizes he loves her. Directed by Charles Walters, the sentimental proceedings benefit from the colorful carnival settings, a few production numbers, Caron's innocent byplay with the puppets and the movie's Oscar-winning song, "Hi-Lili, Hi-Lo." Romantic complications and a veiled sexual assault. (A-II) (br) ( 1953 )
