  • Light at the Edge of the World, The -- Brutal adaptation of a Jules Verne story about a lighthouse keeper (Kirk Douglas) whose rock-ribbed Cape Horn isle is invaded by blood-thirsty pirates (under Yul Brynner) who, after impaling Douglas' co-workers, hack apart the hapless passengers aboard the first ship they manage to drive upon the rocks. Samantha Eggar is preserved, however, for a series of fates worse than death. Produced by Douglas and directed by Kevin Billington, it's literal visualizations of violence are excessive.     A-I -- general patronage;
    A-II -- adults and adolescents;
    A-III -- adults;
    L -- limited adult audience, films whose problematic content many adults would find troubling. L replaces the previous classification, A-IV.
