  • Life Is Sweet -- Richly observed story of good-natured English parents (Alison Steadman and Jim Broadbent) and their totally dissimilar twin daughters -- one a placid plumber (Claire Skinner), the other (Jane Horrocks) a secretive anorexic hostile to one and all. Director Mike Leigh sensitively blends his characters' comic eccentricities with the heartfelt misery of a young woman's frightened search for herself made bearable by her supportive family. Brief bedroom scene with nudity and occasional rough language. (A-III) (nr) ( 1991 )

    These movies have been evaluated for artistic merit and moral suitability by the media reviewing division of Catholic News Service. The reviews include the CNS rating, the Motion Picture Association of America rating, and a brief synopsis of the movie.

    The classifications are as follows:

    A-I -- general patronage;
    A-II -- adults and adolescents;
    A-III -- adults;
    L -- limited adult audience, films whose problematic content many adults would find troubling. L replaces the previous classification, A-IV.
