  • Fort Vengeance -- Formula Western set in Canada where a good Montana cowboy (James Craig) and his devious brother (Keith Larsen) enlist in the North West Mounted Police, then have a falling-out as the Mounties (led by Reginald Denny) try to stop Sitting Bull from stirring an Indian uprising after the Custer Massacre. Directed by Lesley Selander, the predictable story has some good action scenes but is most notable for contrasting the Canadian policy of protecting its Indian peoples with the U.S. policy of suppressing them. Frontier violence. (A-I) (br) ( 1953 )
