  • Forever Mary -- A caring teacher (Michele Placido) tries to make a difference at a boys' reformatory in Sicily where the staff and guards treat their adolescent charges like hardened criminals. Italian director Marco Risi's fact-based drama is a grimly moving expose of a harsh penal system that apparently writes off youthful first-time offenders thus encouraging their continued anti-social behavior. Subtitles. Scenes of brief but intense violence, occasional sexual harrassment and innuendo and frequent vulgar language. (A-III) (nr) ( 1991 )

    These movies have been evaluated for artistic merit and moral suitability by the media reviewing division of Catholic News Service. The reviews include the CNS rating, the Motion Picture Association of America rating, and a brief synopsis of the movie.

    The classifications are as follows:

    A-I -- general patronage;
    A-II -- adults and adolescents;
    A-III -- adults;
    L -- limited adult audience, films whose problematic content many adults would find troubling. L replaces the previous classification, A-IV.
