Extreme Close-Up -- Researching a story on electronic surveillance techniques, a reporter (James McMullan) becomes obsessed with the easily obtainable gadgets of the trade and their potential for invading the private lives of innocent people. Director Jeannot Szwarc uses Michael Crichton's screenplay simply as a vehicle for spying upon the sexual escapades of a rather dull group of characters. (O) (R) ( 1973 )
