  • Day in the Death of Joe Egg, A -- Intense drama about the parents (Alan Bates and Janet Suzman) of a hopelessly retarded, spastic 12-year-old raises issues of abortion and euthanasia but is hardly a propaganda piece for either faction. Directed by Peter Medak, the ambiguities of its characters and situation are left unresolved and casual moviegoers are likely to find it a difficult, draining and confusing experience. (A-IV) (R) ( 1972 )

These movies have been evaluated for artistic merit and moral suitability by the media reviewing division of Catholic News Service. The reviews include the CNS rating, the Motion Picture Association of America rating, and a brief synopsis of the movie.
